- It is an exciting supplement to your normal English lessons, whereby your pupils learn themes that are common to them and at the same time enjoy practising speaking English
- The pupils do experience the East African culture by singing songs in English, dancing and playing games
- I organise the lessons to fit various ages and provide suitable equipment. (cloths, musical instruments, pictures etc.)
- I combine cultural education exclusively with English lessons. The aim of this course is to open the students' minds to other cultures and embrace foreign cultures.
- The students immerse themselves for a few hours in a diverse and colourful journey through the East African culture
- Depending on the age of the pupils and the time available, we can also prepare traditional East African dishes together. These are recipes that the students can also prepare later at home
- As we communicate with each other in English, the students also enhance their vocabulary while cooking
- After my workshop, your students will look at the world of cultures with different eyes
- The exact program depends on the time available and the age of the students. The desired content will be discussed prior to the lesson
- If at least 3 hours are available, we can organise a cooking course together. It is also possible for me to bring along traditional snacks if there is less time
- We shall communicate in class in English which is a fun way for them to practise their language skill. For those who may be uncomfortable I shall supplement the course in German
- The course material to be used will be provided by me
Information about the cooking lessons
- Shopping together with the teachers (if desired)
- You will learn about special spices from the 'Zanzibar Spice Market'.
- The origin and use of the spices are explained. Then we get to work on a sumptuous East African buffet
- Vegetarians have a wide choice
- We wear a special textile, just as it is worn in East African kitchens
- There is a short instruction on how to communicate using Khanga/Leso a piece of cloth amongst the Swahili Culture
- So that we feel like we are in Africa, we cook and eat together in an African ambience with music on the background
- The original recipes you get to take home with you
Here we get to know the East African culture together in a relaxed atmosphere!

This is what my happy students say!
It was so much fun having Lucy at our school. I enjoyed the singing and dancing with instruments the most. |
We had the opportunity to cook, eat, dance and sing together. It was wonderful" |
It was an honour that Lucy accepted to come to our school and showcase her talent. Our students really enjoyed themselves. They liked the YES and NO game and the "Stand up and sit down" game activity so much.
